Beijing Olympic Games started.
Yesterday, I even made two dreams related with it.
The first dream in the Water Cube.
Phelps won a gold metal in men’s 400m swimming. When he stand on the podium while listening U.S. national anthem, I was also feeling his pleasure and quietly singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" melody in my heart. When we all enjoyed this nice moment, it was unexpected that the melody of the national anthem halted suddenly near the end of climax! I thought it was a short pause, but still not going on after four seconds. Phelps first surprised at this pause, then he opened his mouth, and just a regretful smile when he realized what happed. The crowds reacted the same way, and then gave Phelps and another two winners warm applause. At this time I comprehended there is a wrong in playing U.S. national anthem: no ending.
I didn’t not know how U.S. President George W. Bush and his wife Laura, who was watching the game in the audiences’ field, felt at this time. I found they also smiled with a little bit of regretful, and I guess they might think: Chinese people who responsible for playing tracks don’t familiar with the U.S. national anthem after all so the man-made or technical fault like this one should be tolerant. But I don’t think the organizer should smile faintly for such a breach of etiquette, or say gaffe……
The second dream in the basketball court:
What a coincidence President Bush and first lady were there again. And Elaine Chao , the United States Labor Secretary, and Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, sited around them.
The result of match between China and the United States basketball team definitely obvious and can be expected. Chinese team's performance did very well indeed! At the opening a few minutes, a lot of three-pointers by China’s players and repeatedly closed scores, even several times China got more score than the U.S. team, I really be pride for their progress. Their outstanding performance also made U.S. team a little bit surprise that led to a series of blunders, I believe they must were pondering: is that the Chinese basketball team?
What surprised them or even shock them is the behavior of Chinese fans. They encouraged loudly for China’s team goal or gave three cheers for them, contrarily, clear voice if U.S. team got goal. In my opinion, it is beyond reproach that fans cheer crazy for their own country’s team in their home country’s court unless make catcalls or booed. Unfortunately, most fans in this basketball court don’t think so.When the U.S. players free throws, a lot of Chinese fans began to shout "boos" in unison, which means "Boo, it’s impossible you can shot in!"
I was definitely shocked by hearing this boos, and I think it is absolutely wrong to undermine another team’s attack during the game. Fortunately, the U.S. team members haven’t been much affected for their superb artistry.
But as one of the citizens in Olympic host country, I also can not help blushing for that, with hands and feet getting cold and back perspiring because this is not the first time I heard Boo like this. A few days ago it is the same case in the Diamond Cup Men's Volleyball Team.
The guy, who sat around me, still concentrated on booing, can not feel any embarrassed at all. I glanced at the VIP seats, I wonder whether Mr. Yang and Ms. Chao had the same feelings.
I think I should do something so I bravely stand up and try to stop boos but other fans seems very unhappy and staring at me. They may be think what I did was not suitable. One of fans asked me angrily: "Which side do you like to stand? Why not cheering for Chinese team, you are not a patriotic man at all! "
I didn’t know how to answer to his question when hearing the word "unpatriotic", I would like to explain that what I did is patriotism while what they did will lose face. But the man started to boo for the U.S. team and rejected my speech.
The US players didn’t goal, immediately Chinese fans shouted crazy and loudly, I feel eardrum vibration and uncomfortable. I opened my eyes in seconds and found I was lying in my bed, very quiet surrounded.
Just a dream above mentioned. I hope I will not do such a dream anymore.
